Thought-Form is a brand new blog. The purpose is straightforward: to share thoughts about form. The name is, however, a conscious reference to both an idea and the title of a book first published in 1901. The book Thought Forms[i] was co-written by Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater and it explains and elucidates ideas held by the Theosiphists at the beginning of the twentieth century. These ideas influenced many of the modern artists (Mondrian among many others) whose concerns were to make visible those invisible forces, charges, and “auras” that make up the immaterial world. While not necessarily an advocate of all they have to say, we are sympathetic to the idea that form in art can resonate deeply with the spirit.
We welcome submissions that are consistent with the spirit of the blog. All submissions will be reviewed.
